GoPro Hero 5 release date, specs, & update: launch date postponed, 50 percent smaller, to feature 8K-video recording

Things have not changed. GoPro fans will still have to wait a little longer for the release of its next HD-quality, waterproof video recording device, the GoPro Hero 5. The said device was originally slated to make its debut on October this year. Apparently, GoPro Inc. has something else in mind to the point of moving its launch date to next year.

According to Breathe Cast, the unveiling of GoPro Hero 5 was moved to an unspecified date in 2016. Reports say that the sudden change in schedule is primarily due to the company's plans of integrating more upgrades that will bring in cooler and more awesome features that users will greatly revel in. The features that will be added are also said to give the action camera an edge that will help deal with competitors in the market.

With regards to what these features and design changes will be, the company chose to keep the details under wraps until its official launch day. But the reports that say the GoPro Hero 5 will be 50 percent smaller compared to its predecessor, Hero 4, and that it will also be 40 percent lighter may be true, according to Master Herald. The site went on to say that this has happened before, in the case of another version of the action camera called the GoPro Hero Session 4.

But even with its reduced size, rumors say that quality is the one that is being increased. Gospel Herald indicated that Hero 5 is expected to come with 8K-video recording capabilities at full HD. Aside from that, it will also have the proficiency of capturing 4K resolution videos at 60 fps, which is a turnaround from the older models that capture only 30 fps.

The waterproof feature is expected to be as high-quality as it can ever be. Though there are no official details yet, the device is expected to have the capability of going 60 meters deep - if using a dive housing - while producing sharp images and footage compared to other action cameras in the market.
