GoPro News: New Developer Program Features BMW'S M-Laptimer App and Many More

There's no stopping GoPro this year as it recently announced the coming of a Developer Program that seeks to introduce various apps from third-party companies including BMW'S M-laptimer app.

According to CNET News, the said application allows for a live replay of a driver's trip and will be available for download this summer. Aside from the drive's live replay, GoPro owners will also be able to see telemetry data such as location and speed information from the camera.

Another app that users will find useful is the Xensr. Since many consumers have complained about struggles in terms of editing footage taken from the GoPro, the Xensr will be integrated for users to pick which recorded moments are the best through a 15 or 30-second highlight reel.

The outlet notes that the company had a rough start this year as it laid off 7 percent of its workforce in the beginning of 2016 but following former industrial designer of Apple Danny Coster's move to the camera maker's side as its design vice president, stock prices saw a considerable boost.

Despite the downward circle that the company experienced early this year, there is a lot of hope for the new program. According to The Verge, over 100 companies will be involved in the line up including Fisher Price and Periscope.

CEO Nick Woodman said in a statement, "The GoPro Developer Program is a way for us to celebrate the innovative work of our developer community and more importantly, help enable what comes next."

There are other things that GoPro is looking forward to this year as it is also expected to unveil its Karma drone soon as it seeks to compete with other more prominent quadcopter makers. A 360-degree consumer-grade camera is also on the way with the purpose of integrating this generation's most popular feature: virtual reality.

Tech Crunch says the new announcements are looking to hopefully up sales. Apparently, consumers aren't interested in purchasing new cameras every year but with the new apps on the way, there may be hope for the business' luster to shine once more.
