'Gotham' season 2 news, cast, spoilers: Death count will be rising faster than expected

"Gotham" season 2 is gearing up to be more exciting than ever. With the rise of the villains on the horizon, it is already much expected that there will be a lot of citizens in danger than they already are. However, one of the major spoilers dropped recently is there will be deaths much earlier than expected, and these shocking moments will more likely happen in the first few episodes.

Despite the lunatic Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) taking over Gotham's underworld, the most dangerous threat that James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) would have to face would be the Galavan siblings, portrayed by Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his sister Tabitha, a.k.a. Tigress (Jessica Lucas). It's also said the siblings would be responsible for the unexpected deaths, since they are the brains of the uprising.

According to TV Guide, the show will waste no time in eliminating characters immediately early in the show. With one death said to be "sudden and unexpected," while the other one is said to motivate Gordon's actions during the course of the second season. The deaths will apparently kick off the narrative for the season. Some of the speculations on the characters who will meet their demise include James Gordon's love interest and current girlfriend Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) and former girlfriend Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). However, there are a lot of other characters close to James that could trigger him into doing whatever he would.

The cause of the deaths can be directly pointed to the gang of escaped Arkham Asylum inmates. A trailer already gave a preview of this gang, in which Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), who is starting to resemble a pre-Joker image, is a part of. The Galavans are responsible for unleashing this group in their goal to see Gotham burn and take over later on.

However, just because the Galavan siblings may be running the bigger destructive picture here, it doesn't mean that the Penguin could just be ignored, as it's reported that he will be more dangerous than ever, especially now that he leads the crime in Gotham.

Season 2 of Gotham will premiere on Sept. 21, Monday on Fox.
