'Gotham' season 2 news, cast, spoilers: The release of Maniax trailer and will Court of Owls make an appearance soon?

The debut of "Gotham" season 2 definitely lived up to the expectations with the introduction of new villains. The first big bads of the season Theo Galavan and his sister Tabitha, a.k.a. Tigress, introduced themselves. Viewers watched Theo set free the Arkham inmates in accordance to his big plan to cause chaos in Gotham. This group is named The Maniax, and is composed of mentally unstable individuals set off to start the significant fall of the city.

According to Screen Rant, The Maniax will be Jim Gordon's biggest worry in the first half of the new season. Two members of the group are already quite familiar to Jim, which would be Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monghan), who is hinted to become the future Joker; and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Jim's ex-girlfriend gone insane. In the recent trailer, it seems that these latest antagonists are doing everything they can to start hell. From attacking a bus full of cheerleaders to invading the Gotham City Polic headquarters, it's apparent that fear is not at all in their vocabulary. Furthermore, from the looks of it, Barbara and Tabitha will be exploring more than a working relationship.

Recently, showrunner Bruno Heller talked to ComicBook.com in which he was asked if Court of Owls, the influential group that is suspected to have been manipulating Wayne Enterprises, will be entering the story line now that the Galavan siblings are taking on the evil. He shared, "Yeah, absolutely, [I'm interested]. I won't say that it's part of — I don't even want to say that, because I don't want to spoil part of the story. The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology. The comic book fans know about it, but I would suspect the larger audience is not so familiar. We sometimes have to make a distinction between the 'Nolan-era Batman movie fans' and the comic book fans. It's not that they're two separate audiences, just that there are two levels of engagement. Court of Owls is very much deep DC mythology."

This is certainly quite exciting news as the possibilities can be endless. He further added, "We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can't just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won't tell you when."

Fans can only wait to see what will happen next as season 2 of "Gotham" airs every Monday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
