'Gotham' Season 2 Recap, Spoilers: Penguin Works For Theo; Rivalries Between The Waynes and Galavan Resurfaces

It is certainly a delight to see the old villains of Fox's hit crime drama TV series "Gotham" back into action. After an equally compelling arc of Jerome and his Maniax, the show once again reminded the fans as to who runs the titular city, at least for the moment.

As revealed in the latest episode, Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin and the horde of new crime organizations are affected with the rise of the new criminals brought about by Theo Galavan and his sister, Tabitha.

Determined to put a stop on this, the limping leader imposed a much stricter rules on their trade. However, before he could even begin to make the changes, Theo summoned him to his place. The two men discussed how it would be easy for them to take over the city if they join forces. But then, the partnership would need Penguin to do the heavy tasks since Theo needs to emanate the good guy aura.

Sensing that he's at a disadvantage, Penguin turned down the deal. Things then went awry when the Galavans opted to show him that they had his mother locked up in an unknown place.

Distressed about his mother's welfare, Oswald decided to do Theo's bidding and killed a mayoral candidate.

Soon, James Gordon and the GCPD receive intel of Penguin's next move. The attack gets thwarted thanks to the newly-formed Strike Force headed by the department's newest police commissioner, Nathaniel Barnes.

On the other characters, it seems that Bruce may have already moved on from Selina Kyle. Made possible in part by Alfred who told her to stay away from the young master, Bruce also met Galavan's niece, Silver St. Cloud, whom he clearly had quite an interest with.

The synopsis on this week's showing titled "Scarification" was shared over at The Futon Critic and it says that the Galavan and Penguin alliance will become even deadlier as they begin to join forces "with a dangerous family" in Gotham.

Despite Bruce taking an interest in Theo's niece, it is said that the rivalry between the Wayne and Galavan families will resurface. As to how this conflict plays out, it remains to be seen.

"Gotham" airs Mondays, at 8 p.m. on Fox.
