'Gotham' Season 3: No Turning Back for Nygma

There is no stopping Nygma's (Cory Michael Smith) fall from grace in the upcoming episode of "Gotham."

In a recent panel interview, Smith talked about his character's journey in the second half of the current season of the Fox series. According to him, Nygma's fate has been sealed. After killing his best friend Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), the one who will call himself "The Riddler" will start to take over the city. Viewers can expect that Nygma will bring his own brand of brutality and violence to the scene and there is no stopping him.

"The great difficulty here is that Edward, his opportunity to be a good person and live a normal life is passed. He knows that his destiny is to wreak havoc. Now is the time," Smith said, according to Deadline. He adds: "He's got some nice threads...I'm not going to be in a onesie, but yeah—theres a costume."

Meanwhile, Bruce (David Mazouz) is another character who will undergo a huge change.

In a new promo released (via Spoilers Guide), the young Wayne's transformation to Batman is being teased. The clip shows Bruce speaking to a mysterious shaman (played by Raymond J. Barry). The latter is talking about how the city needs him, a protector that the citizens can trust.

To become the Dark Knight, Bruce has been training under Alfred (Sean Pertwee). He is still far from accomplishing his goal, though, as glimpsed from the teaser, and nowhere near the targeted protector status. His martial arts training is still not enough. Mazouz revealed that the last eight episodes of season 3 would follow Bruce's hardships in his journey. He also mentioned that there is going to be repercussions that will greatly change Bruce.

The Bruce that is shown in the promo looks too cocky and confident, unlike the young boy many viewers have come to know. His painful past must have taken its toll on him. All his life, Bruce has been consumed with his mission to find his parents' killer. The huge responsibility on his shoulders must also be weighing him down. The journey to becoming Batman will definitely be an arduous one.

"Gotham" season 3 will return on Monday, April 24, at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
