'Gran Turismo Sport' DLC, Release Date: Producer Teases Super GT Cars and More
Owners of "Gran Turismo Sport" can expect a bunch of new cars to be added in the game via downloadable content (DLC).
This is what game producer Kazunori Yamauchi teased on Twitter as he responded to fans about their questions on post-launch support for the racing title, which will officially be available for purchase on the PlayStation 4 today, Oct. 17.
He said that "because this is Gran Turismo," gamers can look forward to a litany of additions such as commercial cars to make their way to the game through DLC as well as classic and famous vehicles.
Yamauchi also hinted the arrival of cars from Super GT, the biggest and most popular grand touring car racing series in Japan. Cars from there are usually featured in "Gran Turismo" and it looks like the tradition continues in the latest installment of the racing franchise.
Super GT cars come in two different classes — the GT300 and GT500. Vehicles to be added to "Gran Turismo Sport" are expected to hail from this lineup.
Apart from all that, he also confirmed there will be brand new tracks, but he did not go into detail on which exact vehicles or locations to expect in the game.
For now, fans will just have to be patient as they wait for official word but it is looking like the next months of "Gran Turismo Sport" after its launch will be very colorful.
As to what the game will be all about, it will be predominantly multiplayer but there will be single-player content in the form of a driving school, mission challenges in which players will be required to complete various racing challenges, the Circuit Experience in which racers get the chance to learn the tracks inch by inch and a new mode for safety car protocols.
"Gran Turismo" will also feature a two player split-screen races in the campaign mode but only on select tracks and time trial races. Part of the game will also be virtual reality-compatible.
