'Gran Turismo Sport' Latest News: Full List of Cars Revealed
"Gran Turismo Sport" is about to go on sale in less than a week, and the team behind the driving simulation took the opportunity to present the complete list of all the cars that will be showing up in the game at launch.
It's what fans of "Gran Turismo Sport" has been waiting for, and it's finally here. Sony and Polyphonic have released the list of cars that will be included in the launch of their game next week, and it fairly represents all the brands that have a significant presence in the racing circuits today.
The 162 cars in this list still fall short of their previous title, "Gran Turismo 6," which had a comprehensive collection of 1,197 cars when it came out in 2013. It also pales in comparison with its peers like "Forza Motorsport 7," for example, which has 700 cars on its list, as Eurogamer noted.
With less than two hundred cars for launch, some compromises can already be seen. While the list features some of the series hallmarks since its days in the PlayStation 2, "Gran Turismo Sport" does not even have one car to represent Lotus, to name just one prominent carmaker.
This time around, though, Porsche is being represented in the latest "Gran Turismo" iteration. Heading the list is the Porsche 919 Hybrid, a prototype model now included in the game as a Gr.1 racer.
Another hybrid prototype also makes it into the game, in the form of the Toyota TS050, a racing model that "Gran Turismo" describes as "a direct rival to the Porsche 919." The development of the car's model in-game was also helped along by Kamui Kobayashi, the actual driver of the car who set the new course record at Le Mans.
The video below introduces viewers to the car classes that the cars of "Gran Turismo Sport" will fall into, along with an early look at some in-game shots of the new cars on the race track. "Gran Turismo Sport" is now available for pre-order, and will come out by next week Tuesday, Oct. 17 for the PlayStation 4.
