Grand Theft Auto 5 Release Date: GTA V to Launch With Game Customizing App iFruit

Grand Theft Auto 5 will be coming with an accompanying app called that can be accessed anywhere, even when not playing the game.

The app, iFruit, will allow gamers to customize their vehicles on the go, and then place the car in the players garage in GTA 5. The second part of the app is a "gangster version" of a Tamagotchi, where players help raise a ferocious pooch to be had as a pet in the game.

"Everybody's had some work done in Los Santos, so don't let your ride be the exception to the rule," the app's description reads. "How would we survive without apps? Apps can transform your mobile device into essential tools like a harmonica, disco ball or convincing moustache. Somewhere out there is the perfect storm of touchscreen technology to fix everything that's wrong with your life. And maybe all you're missing is the iFruit app. Maybe not. At least you'll have something to keep you entertained while your significant other prattles on endlessly about their day."

Grand Theft Auto V cost a reported $266,000,000 to make in including marketing, giving it the title of the most expensive video game ever created.

GTA V is the second highest amount of money spent in the entertainment industry ever with only the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" topping that figure at $300,000,000, according to Kotaku.

GTA V is going all out to get an authentic feel to it by getting real gang members to voice the game's many gangs.

"When we record all these ambient characters that are in the world we go towards authenticity," game producer Lazlow Jones told WGN. "So in the game, part of the element of the story is that there's rival gangs."

The game will launch on Sept. 17 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

The GTA franchise has always been mired in controversy for its violent content, and its portrayal of drug use and prostitution as storylines to the game. Despite these concerns, the games continue to be among the most popular of any series out there.
