Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions Live Stream Free: Watch NFL 2013 Thanksgiving Day Football Online (Start Time, Fox TV Schedule)
The Green Bay Packers will play the Detroit Lions in the first of three Thanksgiving Day NFL football games in Week 13 of the regular season. This all-NFC North clash will have massive implications for the division, which as close as it can get with three teams fighting it out for the division title. Today's big game will start at 12.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
The Detroit Lions are currently tied for top spot in the NFC North, with themselves and the Chicago Bears both on 6-5 coming into this week. However, the Packers are only just behind with a record of 5-5-1, and could leapfrog the Lions with a win against them today.
The Packers ended their slide of three straight defeats last weekend – kind of – by playing out a tie with the Minnesota Vikings. They had lost straight games against the Chicago Bears (20-27), Philadelphia Eagles (13-27), and New York Giants (13-27), which has left their season teetering on the edge.
They must get back to winning ways, and return to losing today would likely see them fall out of the race for the title and postseason as the regular season winds up towards its conclusion.
Despite their recent poor form, the Packers still maintain the 2nd raked offense in total yards gained per game. They are posting an impressive 424.4 yards on average per game. However, they just haven't been able to convert those yards into points in recent weeks, and they have been undone by a lackluster defense.
It has been confirmed on Wednesday by coach Mike McCarthy that Matt Flynn will start as quarterback for the Packers against the Lions today. Flynn's last start for the Packers came against the Lions way back in 2011.
Meanwhile, the Lions are starting to struggle themselves, and they have lost their past two games coming into today's clash. Since their 21-19 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 10, they have fallen 27-37 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and 21-24 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Lions have been strong on the pass this season, and are ranked 3rd in the NFL in the air, posting 308.4 yards per game on average on pass offense. Matthew Stafford is 274 of 465 for 3,495 yards and 24 touchdowns. His favorite target man has been Calvin Johnson, who has gone 1,198 yards on 66 receives for 11 touchdowns.
Today's clash between two teams lacking in confidence through recent weeks should be an intriguing match up, and will hold big sway in which team takes the lead in the drive to win the division title this season.
