Grey's Anatomy Season 11 to Be Meredith-Centered, Features Lots of Flashbacks

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 is to premiere on Sept. 25 on the ABC channel, consisting of 24 episodes. The season will continue where Season 10 left off, with the show being centered more on Meredith this time.

The series' creator, Shonda Rhimes, revealed in an interview earlier this year that "Season 11 is really a Meredith-centric season. She's lost her 'person,' her half-sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go someplace else." She had also revealed that she wanted to do a familial grenade type of storyline and the ending of Season 10 provided her with that opportunity.

Ellen Pompeo, who plays as the character Dr. Meredith Grey, confirmed Rhimes' statements a few days ago during an interview with E! Online. Pompeo was asked about what fans might expect for the eleventh season.

"We can't move to DC because Meredith would find out her mother is alive and she would be pissed!" she said.

A lot of flashbacks will also be seen during the next season, with some going as far back as even before the first season started.

"We are doing a lot of flashback stuff. Very challenging ... A lot of people say how can you stay on a show 11 years. After 11 seasons you have to stay so alive and present. You can't disappoint the audience. You have to bring it," Pompeo added.

The titles of the first three episodes are already know, with the first episode titled "I Must Have Lost it on the Wind." The second episode, airing on Oct. 2 is named "Puzzle with a Piece Missing," and the third episode will be called "Got to be Real" airing on Oct. 9.
