'Grey's Anatomy' Season 13 Episode 17 Spoilers: Diane Pierce Returns to Grey Sloan; Tension Grows Between Amelia and Owen

Fans will once again see Diane Pierce (LaTanya Richardson Jackson), adoptive mother of Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), coming back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle. On the other hand, tension rises between Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen Hunt (Kevin KcKidd).

The synopsis for the upcoming episode highlights Diane's comeback. It can be recalled that she has already shown up in an earlier episode of season 13. However, she came in unannounced this time and it does not sit well with Maggie.

When Diane first appeared in episode 12 ("None of Your Business"), she quickly made a good impression on the colleagues of her daughter. She went to the hospital and wanted her rash to get checked by Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). It turns out she has inflammatory breast cancer.

Upon knowing her condition, she asked Jackson to help her tell Maggie about it. She then decided to stay at Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) house. However, she was confronted by Maggie, who implied that she is not yet ready to be with Diane again. The latter then left and went back to Hawaii without telling Maggie the real situation.

Now that Diane is coming back to Seattle, Maggie is still clueless on why the former keeps coming back and tries hard to be in her life all of a sudden. Fans will have to wait and see if Maggie will finally learn about Diane's condition and if it will change her heart about accepting her adoptive mother again.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for "Till I Hear It From You" also hints at a brewing tension between Amelia and Owen. According to reports, they will try to hash things out while working together to treat a patient with a trauma condition. However, instead of bringing peace back to their relationship, spoilers hint that it will result to an even bigger argument.

On the other hand, another relationship – Richard's and Bailey's – is at the point of a falling-out. But episode 17's synopsis suggests that Bailey will not give up just yet. In "Till I Hear It From You," fans will see Bailey making a move to fix things with him.

"Till I Hear It From You" airs on Thursday, March 23, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
