'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Cast News, Air Date: Tessa Ferrer Not Returning to Reprise Role; Grey Sloan Set Photos Released

"Grey's Anatomy" has lost another cast member.

According to an exclusive report from TVLine, Tessa Ferrer will not be reprising her role as Leah Murphy in the upcoming season of the ABC medical drama. As fans may recall, she first brought life to the role in season 9 before making her last appearance as the character in the season 10 finale. She then returned in the show's previous installment where she resumed her duties at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

But Leah Murphy is not the only character fans will have to say goodbye to ahead of season 14. As previously reported, Marika Dominczyk, who played Eliza Minnick, will not be returning to reprise her role. Meanwhile, Bridget Regan has been replaced by Abigail Spencer in the role of Owen's sister Megan. This is because of scheduling conflicts that arose with Regan's work on TNT's "The Last Ship."

Additionally, fans will still not see Sara Ramirez in the new season. Ramirez has played Callie Torres since the show's second season but left after season 12. Executive producer Debbie Allen revealed that while Ramirez is missed, "there's been no discussion" of her possible return.

Season 14, however, will introduce Andrew's sister, Carina, who also hails from Italy. The character will be portrayed by Stefania Spampinato, and her arrival will not be taken well by her brother.

Since its debut in 2005, only four original cast members are left. These four characters, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Alex (Justin Chambers), Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Richard (James Pickens Jr.), all appeared in the upcoming season's new poster. Unlike more recent seasons, it has been said that the new one will be less heavy, which is perhaps why the four characters are smiling in the poster. Giacomo Gianniotti, who plays Andrew, has previously said that season 14 will be "lighter."

Apart from some new faces, fans should also prepare to see a newly renovated Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The first photos of the set were obtained and published by Entertainment Weekly, and they feature a more stylish look.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 14 will debut with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
