'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Spoilers, Cast: Latest Character Exit Detailed as New One Comes Along
Big changes are coming in "Grey's Anatomy" season 14.
The previous episode of the current season of the medical drama marked the end of the story of Riggs (Martin Henderson), which appears to be the end of the actor's stint on the show as well.
"Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes confirmed on Twitter that they worked on giving the character a "happy ending worthy of his character and talent."
However, while it seems to be the end for the character, it might not be the last time fans will see Riggs. In an interview with Deadline, Henderson said that he is open to returning:
I would never close the door. In my mind it's been left open-ended enough.
This is the third time that Shonda and I have worked together. I think providing an exit for the character where there's a possibility for him to return is always nice. It was always a short-term thing and I was happy to spend a few years doing the show.
However, at the moment, Henderson, who describes himself as someone who is not used to "doing long-term things creatively," will focus on "exploring some other areas."
So for me it's a nice amount of time. If the opportunity came in the future with an interesting storyline, I'd be happy to explore. I definitely feel connected to Shonda and am grateful for the opportunity she has given me.
While Riggs will no longer be part of "Grey's Anatomy" season 14, fans will welcome a new face. "One Tree Hill" alum Bethany Joy Lenz is joining the show as in a guest role.
She will play Jenny but details about the character are being kept under wraps as well as the number of episodes the actress will appear in.
Matthew Morrison is also set to reprise his role as Jo's (Camilla Luddington) abusive ex-husband Paul in episode 9 of "Grey's Anatomy" season 14.
