'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Spoilers: Meredith and Nathan's Romance Over?

It is looking like "Grey's Anatomy" season 14 will see the end of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Nathan's (Martin Henderson) relationship.

Fans will remember that the two got together when they were laden with the heartbreak of losing someone they love. Meredith was coping up with the death of Derek (Patrick Dempsey) while Nathan was mourning his ex Megan.

However, it turns out that his old flame is not as dead as they all thought. This is bound to shake things up between Nathan and Meredith in "Grey's Anatomy" season 14 and will force the latter to face another harsh reality.

Executive producer and star Debbie Allen revealed to TV Guide that while the pair went through something similar, Nathan has found a ray of hope, which will make Meredith realize that she does not and never will:

They both had a similar experience, but now this experience for Nathan is not even possible for her. Derek is not coming back.

This will force Meredith to think things through in "Grey's Anatomy" season 14 in a way that she has never done before:

She will be re-examining and figuring out what's important in her life and how she will move on emotionally.

From the looks of it, Nathan is looking to rekindle things with Megan in "Grey's Anatomy" season 14, which will leave Meredith not only heartbroken by losing a guy he has come to love, but also reminds her that she will never get the chance that Nathan has.

At the moment, however, nothing is set in stone yet. Many believe that Meredith deserves to take a breather and hopes that she gets to do so this season. Thankfully, fans can count on creator Shonda Rhimes to come up with a satisfying conclusion to it all.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 14 premieres with a two-hour special on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
