'Grey's Anatomy' Spinoff Spoilers, Cast News: 'The Catch' Alum Joins Ensemble

The highly anticipated "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff has officially added Jay Hayden to the growing ensemble.

The actor, who starred in "The Catch," which is another brainchild of "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes, will be a series regular in the spinoff. Unfortunately, details about his character are being kept under wraps at this time.

Hayden officially joins Grey Damon (Lieutenant Jack), Okieriete Onaodowan (Dean), Danielle Savre (Maya) and Barrett Doss (Victoria) whose casting was confirmed only a few days ago.

After the announcement, the latest addition to the cast took to Instagram to express how "excited" and "thankful" he is to be part of the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff:

Can't wait to wear the suspenders, very nervous about finding a helmet that fits.

On Twitter, he gushed about his new gig, joking about his preparation for the role in the project:

Running around LA right now putting out people's cigarettes and throwing water on fire pits to get ready for the role.

"Rosewood" alum Jaina Lee Ortiz was the first to be confirmed for the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff back in July. Last month, it was announced that Jason George, who stars in the parent series as Ben Warren, will be part of the cast as well.

The "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff will follow a group of heroic firefighters working in a Seattle firehouse. It is being written by the mothership show's executive producer and co-showrunner Stacy McKee.

The production should begin soon now that the cast appears to be all set. The lead characters are slated to be introduced in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" this fall to set up their stories in the spinoff, which will premiere during the midseason schedule of ABC.

The "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff, whose title is yet to be announced, will only have 10 episodes. More details about the story and characters should be revealed soon.
