'GTA 6' Release Date News: 'GTA 5' Sequel Still Far Off, Rockstar Focused on 'Red Dead Redemption 2'?
Despite the radio silence of Rockstar Games with regard to its next "Grand Theft Auto" ("GTA") offering, there are a lot of talks going around about "GTA 6."
According to the latest rumors, Rockstar will fully commit themselves to "Red Dead Redemption 2" first before moving on to "GTA 6."
However, Rockstar has separate divisions dedicated to each franchise. Rockstar San Diego primarily works on the western shooter while Rockstar North handles "GTA."
Despite this, both divisions appear to be working together. Well-known "GTA" tipster Yan2295 claims that Rockstar North is helping out San Diego with the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2" while others are working on another game.
Some have reportedly been working on "GTA 6," but with only limited manpower, it is likely that it will take a while to put the game together.
Only then when "Red Dead Redemption 2" is complete will allow Rockstar to fully focus its attention on building the next "GTA" game. Thankfully, the western sequel is already set for release this fall.
Rockstar has been silent about the game, which had some fans thinking that it might be delayed, something that is unprecedented.
Either way, with Rockstar North all over the place, completion of "GTA 6" might take longer than expected. Additionally, with a purported multiplayer mode for "Red Dead Redemption 2," Rockstar has a lot on its plate.
That being said, "GTA 6" could be a long way off. Recent reports suggest that it might not arrive until 2021. Media outlets have picked up a speculation by a YouTuber, who believes that Rockstar is teasing the release date of its next "GTA" game.
He makes mention of one of the airports in the game where two doors are labeled 2013 and 2021, respectively. The rest of the doors in the location do not have numberings.
This is believed to be Rockstar cluing in fans that "GTA 6" is coming in 2021. The 2013 is said to be a reference to the year "GTA 5" was first released. However, fans are advised to take this with a pinch of salt as this remains unfounded.
