'GTA 6' Release Date Rumors: 'GTA 5' Sequel Unlikely to Arrive Next Year, Wait Might Be Longer Than Expected
While Rockstar Games is clearly not done with updating and adding new content to "Grand Theft Auto 5," at least its multiplayer component, the talks and discussions about "GTA 6" keep on.
According to the latest reports about the yet to be announced game, it is unlikely that the next installment in the action-adventure series will not see the light of day next year.
Looking at the release history of "GTA titles, the gap between new entries is usually four to five years, making the potential launch of "GTA 6" to 2018.

However, PCGamesN believes that Rockstar is unlikely to launch it as it might steal the thunder from "Red Dead Redemption 2," a new installment in another one of the studio's popular franchises.
Add to that the fact that the western shooter sequel is the current focus of the company seeing that it is deemed its next big video game offering. Whether work on "GTA 6" has begun already or not remains to be seen though.
However, former Rockstar president Leslie Benzies did hint in the past that ideas have been thrown around on what it will look like and where it will be set.
We don't know what "GTA 6" will be, but we've got some ideas. It comes from the idea first. Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.
The natural expectation is that "GTA 6" will be much bigger in scale than the current title, which is already quite a massive game. It is believed that it might even coincide with the release of next-generation consoles, whose power and performance capabilities they will make the most of.
