GTA 6 Release Date Rumors: Next Game in Record-Breaking Franchise Expected in 2018 or 2020?
After rumors of where GTA 6 will be set – Portland, Miami City, New York City – many are speculated when GTA 6 will be released.
There have been unconfirmed reports that GTA 6 will take place in 2018 with a playable map of the U.S. The only question is when will the open world action-adventure game be released: in 2018 or 2020?
Accoriding to IBTTimes, the game is allegedly being made more complex, as the developers plan to mesh all of the GTA series like it's other hugely successful franchise "Red Dead Redemption." The other rumour is that the developers are roping in Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes to be the lead voices in GTA 6.
Then there are the graphics. "Grand Theft Auto 2," and "Grand Theft Auto 3" came quickly after the launch of "Grand Theft Auto." Rockstar waited seven years to develop and release GTA 4, and the updated 3-D graphics made a huge difference for the gameplay. GTA 5 has skyrocketed expectations, and now GTA 6 is finally on the horizon. The level of graphics and storytelling has to be several notches higher to meet the expectations of the players worldwide.
Considering the complexity of the graphics program, it would take years to upgrade GTA for next-gen gaming consoles even if it were to just update each of the cities it already has and linking them all together.
It does seem a mammoth job, but 2018 seems a reasonable enough time to release GTA 6. Rockstar might be facing pressure to make a phenomenon out of GTA 6, so it's release could be pushed to 2020.
