'GTA IV' Now Available on Xbox One; Rockstar Games Celebrates With Special Giveaways

After a long wait, Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto IV" and all its downloadable content are finally available and playable on the Xbox One.

The game is the most recent one to enter the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program, joining other games such as "Shadows of the Damned" and "Indiana Jones."

Rockstar Games also confirmed that players' saved progress on "GTA IV" will be carried over into the Xbox One as long as the save files were uploaded in the Xbox 360 cloud.

The developer also said that "Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City" will likewise be included in the Xbox One Backward Compatibility Program. The title's DLCs, "The Lost and Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony," are also confirmed to work for the Xbox One.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games is also hosting a special giveaway to celebrate "GTA IV's" inclusion in the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program.

The developers are currently giving away "GTA IV" items and collectibles for their Social Club members. One of  the members will also receive a commemorative prize pack, which will include a "GTA IV" dartboard, pool cue, license plates, mousepads and shirts.

For players who already own a physical copy of the game, the disc can be inserted into the Xbox One console where they can download the game and their current game progress from there. As for digital owners of the game, "GTA IV" can be accessed in the "Ready to Install" section of Xbox One. For those who don't own the base game yet, it is available in the Xbox Store for $20.

"GTA IV" was released in 2008, originally for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 devices. It was received well both critically and commercially, and it even won the VGX Award for Game of the Year and the GameSpot Award for Best Xbox 360 Game. The game also sold over 25 million copies as of July 2013.
