'Guacamelee 2' Coming to PlayStation 4 Soon

A new title will soon be added to the "Guacamelee" franchise, developer Drinkbox Studios confirmed. The video game sequel's storyline and gameplay were also revealed.

"Guacamelee 2" was one of the first titles announced during the pre-show ahead of Sony's Paris Games Week.

"Pick up that luchador mask: Guacamelee 2 is coming "soon-ish" to PS4, with enhanced chicken mechanics. #PlayStationPGW" the company wrote in a tweet.

In terms of storyline, the sequel will pretty much stick to the original's, Engadget reports. "Guacamelee 2" however will be set seven years after the events of the first game. Luchador Juan Aguacate will still serve as the title's hero.

All these years he has been living happily and quietly with his family. But when his trainer Uay Chivo learns that an evil personality, a new villain, is looking to destroy Mexico, Juan will step out of retirement to save his beloved Mexico.

Gamers can expect the sequel to come with better graphics and lighting, and changes to the setting should also be noticeable. The studio reportedly plans to add a four-player local co-op system, which will allow players to go on virtual adventures with their friends.

Additionally, the platformer will introduce a new hooking mechanic dubbed as the Eagle Boost. It will allow Juan to breeze through a new level. Players will also be able to turn themselves into a chicken when they obtain the Chicken Shot. With this new ability, players most likely will be able to easily squeeze their way out of tough situations.

New bosses, characters, enemies, and levels are coming to "Guacamelee 2."

The Metroidvania-inspired platformer still has no release date. Further details should be announced in the weeks leading up to its launching.

Sony has confirmed that the game is coming to PlayStation 4 sometime next year.
