'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' news: Groot returns, Tyler Bates to handle music
Fans will get another look at Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" in the form of famous and well-loved actor Vin Diesel.
Director James Gunn confirmed in a Facebook Q & A that Diesel will resume the role of the talking, fighting tree creature in the sequel. Although Diesel's only lines in the first movie were "I am Groot" and "We are Groot," fans said they are looking forward to a different Groot this time.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Diesel said he recorded his lines in English, Brazilian, Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and French, in the first movie, noting that no computerization was done to his voice during the filming process.
In the previous movie, Groot had to sacrifice himself to save friends Quill, Drax, Rocket, and Gamora. What remained from Groot was placed inside a pot, which later became a baby Groot, and started to grow.
The scene could mean that Groot will be back in the sequel as a fully grown Groot, as Gunn said in an interview with Screen Rant earlier this year that fans will indeed see a whole new Groot in the second installment. "Well, who says baby Groot is Groot and not Groot's son?" he said.
Meanwhile, Christian Today reported that Tyler Bates, the curator of the previous movie's memorable music, will be back to once again create amazing scores for another round.
The outlet noted that Bates' music always knows when is the right time to place melody that elicits excitement among viewers in brawls, as well as in scenes where tears need to be part of the drama.
Gunn has also revealed that for the sequel, he will once again handpick which songs should be included. The director said Peter's Awesome Mix volume 2 will speak much more about the protagonist's emotional side as the music involves his relationship with his mysterious father.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released on May 5, 2017.
