'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' News: Director James Gunn Offers Production Update; Says One Big Easter Egg Hasn't Been Found Yet

It's no secret that Marvel's upcoming big screen offering, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which is the sequel to the 2014 box office massive hit, "Guardians of the Galaxy," is now set for a theatre release on May 5, 2017 and that production for the project is now going underway.

This has been made known by none other than the helmer himself, James Gunn, who recently took to his social media to announce that he (during the time of his posting) is now on his way to Atlanta to begin the pre-production on GoTG 2.

On his Facebook post (via Screen Rant), which also featured voice actor Vin Diesel (as Groot) and director James Wan, Gunn indicates that it would probably take ten months to shoot the forthcoming title.

The SR article went on to clarify that the actual filming of scenes, with the cast members including Chris Pratt (as Peter Quill/Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (as Gamora) and Dave Bautista (as Drax the Destroyer) among others, won't be commencing until February.

Gunn and the crews' itinerary in Atlanta would be to build "the giant sets" which, according to the publication, will serve as the backdrop of the Guardian's next adventure.

With the new production schedule already on the move, it is speculated that the public will soon get a handful of casting updates by the end of the year or early 2016.

For the meantime, Gunn also delved on some of the fans' question over his Facebook. One of which pertains to the subject of Easter eggs in the film.

Thanks to the recently released DVD and Blu-Ray copies of the film, fans were able to spend a considerable amount of time searching for these inside jokes and references. The filmmaker, however, revealed that one of the most secretive Easter eggs hasn't been found yet.

"They have not all been found. No one has found the big one, really. Maybe once someone came close," he said on his post.

Cinema Blend parted their theories saying that this significant detail could be much more noticeable after the second story is revealed.
