'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Release Date, News: Kevin Feige Talks About Ayesha and Nebula's Role in the Film
Marvel Studios has been busy promoting "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" lately, but they have avoided giving away much of the plot. Fans know that Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) is going to be one of the film's main villains. They also know that Taserface (Chris Sullivan) and a rebellious group of the Ravagers are going to oust Yondu (Michael Rooker) from power. But other than that, not much is known about the plot. Well, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is here to help fans connect the dots.
During a set visit by the press (via Screen Rant), Feige talked about how Ayesha fits into the plot and he revealed that she was the one who hired the Ravagers to chase after Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt). The Guardians of the Galaxy were supposed to protect the power source that runs the Sovereign planet. However, Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) ends up stealing three of them. The Guardians may be heroes now, but they are still a band of scoundrels.
Rocket took the batteries because he thought they wouldn't notice. Unfortunately, Ayesha and the Sovereign people found out and they would stop at nothing to get the batteries back.
During the interview, Feige also revealed that Nebula (Karen Gillan) was captured by the Sovereign and the Guardians were supposed to get her as payment for their services.
"They want to take Nebula back to Xandar to have her arrested. Things go awry on that journey, and she becomes a much bigger player in the film than she was in the first one," he said.
Nebula's relationship with Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is going to be explored in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," and sparks are going to fly when they meet.
"It's sort of Nebula's deciding does she want to kill Gamora or is she going to set aside this sort of internal rage within her. And she does spend some time teaming up with Taserface for much of the movie too," Feige went on to say.
Sounds like the Guardians are going to have their hands full in the sequel. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled to premiere on May 5.
