Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Update: Stefani a Factor in Shelton's ACM Awards Snub?
Some fans are blaming Gwen Stefani for Blake Shelton's exclusion in the nominations for the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards this year.
While some fans are happy over Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's blossoming romance, there are those who think the female pop rock artist is the reason by the male country singer has not been nominated for this year's Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. Shelton has not missed an ACM nomination since 2008, according to the International Business Times.
Shelton's duet with Ashley Monroe, "Lonely Tonight," got nominated for the Grammy awards, so fans were naturally shocked at the ACM Awards snub. Some fans pointed to Shelton's decision to date Stefani just a few months after his divorce from Miranda Lambert as the reason why he did not get an ACM Awards nomination, the Inquistr reports.
It is worth noting that Lambert has received three nominations for the ACM Awards, the report adds.
Meanwhile, Shelton seems to take the ACM Awards snub quite well. In a Twitter post, the country singer said he just has to improve on his performance next time.
"Oh well.... I just have to do better. Working on it now!" said Sheldon on Twitter on Feb. 2.
Shelton himself told his fans that he is quite relieved that he does not have to attend the awards night. Last year, Shelton hosted the ACM Awards with Luke Bryan. This year, however, Bryan will co-host the event with Dierks Bentley.
The awards snub actually presents an advantage for the new "The Voice" couple. Being left out of the awards means the two will not have to deal with an awkward face-to-face moment with Lambert and her new boyfriend, musician Anderson East, the report explains.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton confirmed that they are together in November 2015. While there are those who do not support their relationship, there are still many "The Voice" fans who adore their unlikely pairing.
