'H1Z1' Release Date for PC Coming January 2015, PS4 Version to Follow

Sony Online Entertainment's survival zombie game "H1Z1" is set for an Early Access release date of Jan. 15, 2015.

The confirmation of an Early Access release via Steam for Microsoft Windows came from the President of Sony Online Entertainment himself, John Smedley, who goes by the name of j_smedley on Reddit. He posted a thread on the site with a straightforward title, "H1Z1 Early Access Release Date – January 15th 2015."

"This gives us enough time to polish what we have and put out something we'll be proud of and hopefully you'll be excited to play," he wrote.

Smedley also explained why Sony took so long with the game's release, explaining that they felt their initial efforts were not good enough and not yet something they could be proud of. However, Smedley warned that the game was not yet complete though and he was actually recommending that people not buy the Early Access version too because their initial goal is to get user feedback.

Smedley also recently confirmed that after the PC version comes out, Sony will be following it up with a version for the PlayStation 4.

A Twitter user sent out a tweet to Smedley asking him to announce the PS4 version to which Smedley tweeted back, "we're doing a PS4 version after the PC."

Smedley has also talked about comparisons made between "H1Z1" and fellow zombie game "Day Z."

He stressed there was no better game between them because while "H1Z1" was not as feature rich as its rival, they have a different game with a different goal to create a large scale world where survivors are dealing with the zombie apocalypse.

"H1Z1" on Steam Early Access will be available next year on January at $19.99 and will come with a limited playing area of 64,000 kilometers.
