'Half Life 3' News – Fate is Uncertain As Fans Fuel Rumours Of Games's Development
There are fresh rumours that even though game developer Valve had started production on "Half Life 3," it will most probably be shelved and Valve will continue to focus on other titles like "Left 4 Dead 3" and "Portal 3."
It has been a mystery as to why Valve has not actively pursued the development of "Half Life 3" considering the success of the "Half Life" franchise and also taking into fact that amongst it is a much awaited title.
There are reports that eager fans have come across a document that was located in the latest Dota 2 update. This text file, which is called hl3.txt, had various elements that fans immediately recognized as part of the "Half Life" universe. It seems that fans also linked the initials of the file 'hl3' to "Half Life 3' and assumed that the sequel to "Half Life 2" was being developed and would be out soon.
All rumours of "Half Life 3" in development seem to be false as Day Herald also has reported that Valve Co-founder Gabe Newell has not confirmed any such development nor has Valve made any announcement.
The "Half Life" games are in the science-fiction category and is a first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Corporation. It is one of the company's most critically acclaimed titles. Till now, the "Half Life" franchise has sold over 20 million units so far and fans expected "Half Life 3" to release soon.
In the game, the gamer has to perform combat tasks and solve puzzles simultaneously to go to higher levels and use scripted sequences to go ahead. Before, this gave the game its unique selling point and also brought the gamer in control of the situation that was well received.
The puzzles in the game, like navigating a maze of conveyor belts or building a stairway from the wooden boxes, had gamers intrigued.
According to rumours, Valve is concentrating on other titles, especially "Left 4 Dead 3," which is under development and is scheduled to release sometime in 2017.
