'Half-Life 3' Release Date, News: Valve Busy With 3 New VR Games

While the chances of "Half-Life 3" turning up become bleaker by the day, fans of Valve Corporation would love to know that the developer is currently working on three titles.

"Right now we're building three VR games," Valve founder Gabe Newell told Eurogamer. "When I say we're building three games, we're building three full games, not experiments," he went on to explain.

Newell did not say what these games will be (with fans hoping "Half-Life 3" is one of them) except that they are being built on the Source 2 and Unity engines. Other than that, he detailed as to why they are taking this approach.

"One of the questions you might be asking is 'Why in the world would you be making hardware?' What we can do now is we can be designing hardware at the same time that we're designing software. This is something that Miyamoto has always had," Newell said, referring to Nintendo representative director Shigeru Miyamoto.

"He's had the ability to think about what the input device is and design a system while he designs games. Our sense is that this will actually allow us to build much better entertainment experiences for people," he went on to say.

Fans hope that one of the titles that Valve is working on is "Half-Life 3." In fact, many believe that this could be the confirmation they are waiting for.

Gamers have been waiting for more than a decade for "Half-Life 3" and they have heard all sorts of rumors and reports about the myth of a game.

In the past few years, it was believed that "Half-Life 3" is being made for virtual reality (VR), which means it will be the first title in the hit franchise to make that technological leap.

While Newell did not say anything about "Half-Life 3" being one of the games, fans would like to believe that a title such as this would be perfect for VR.

However, the Valve boss did note that they are looking to create new IPs instead of rebuilding their existing popular titles for the VR, which could mean that the three games they are working on will be those that fans have not seen before.
