'Halo 5: Guardians' Battle of Shadow and Light Update Brings Big Team Battle And Four New Maps
The popular shooter game exclusive to Xbox One, "Halo 5: Guardians," has received its first free expansion pack a few days ago. Called "Battle of Shadow and Light," this free content pack is said to be one of the "many" free updates that the game is set to receive from game developer 343 Industries. Among the biggest features of this update is the Big Team Battle that allows teams of eight players to battle it out in four new Big Team Battle maps.
According to a report in GameSpot, aside from the 8v8 Big Team Battles, there are also four new maps which were made using Halo 5's Forge tools and were said to be inspired by previous maps that appeared in the game. The new maps are Deadlock, Basin, Guillotine and Recurve.
Apart from the new maps, the update also brings with it 48 new REQs, which includes new weapons, weapon skins, armor such as the Shinobi armor set and the Tracer armor set and emblems. A new type of assassination is also available, called "Shove It," as well as several other assassinations. Weapon skins also come for both guns and vehicles that players use. Game publisher Microsoft however said that the new REQ content may not arrive all at once but will definitely be available within 24 hours or less.
The maps for Big Team Battles are not the only maps that will be brought to the game. According to the report, players can expect more than 15 free multiplayer maps in the coming expansion packs, most especially in the summer of 2016. On the other hand, the map-editing tools called the Forge tools will also be made available to players by December. This means players can make their own maps and share it with the rest of the Halo 5 community.
Since the game was launched on October 27, it has so far generated $400 million, a figure that is a first for the "Halo" franchise. It is also said to be "the most-played game on Xbox Live" during the week that it was released.
