'Halo 5: Guardians' Launches New Trailer Featuring Spartan Locke

As the previous "Halo 5: Guardians" trailer teases it fans about the real origin of Master Chief, the new update highlights the role of Spartan Locke in the game.

In the trailer released by Microsoft, Locke – an UNSC elite manhunter, is seen to take out the Covenant as he seeks out the Master Chief. The trailer also shows off the new Spartan Locke HUNTER-class armor, which is exclusive to players who will pre-order the Xbox title from GameStop. The retailer also announced that those who will pre-order from them would also get a special "Halo 5" poster.

The armor is playable in the game's multiplayer mode. According to Microsoft, the game content includes:

  • HUNTER-Class Helmet – a prototype implementation that improves the threat and situational awareness.
  • HUNTER-Class Armor – the armor integrates Watershed Division's latest warfighting technology, making it a lethal yet sophisticated suit.

Other highlights of the shooter game include new abilities and weapons that can be easily combined with the previous gameplay options. Locke is a playable character, along with Master Chief. The new title would have no P2P, only dedicated servers for multiplayer as confirmed by Josh Holmes last week.

Halo 5: Guardians is said to have twists that should pique the interests of players – something about the relationship between Locke and Master Chief. Mike Colter, who played Locke in "Halo: Nightfall" says that he is not sure if his character was a friend or an enemy:

"Can't confirm whether he's a friend or foe of Master Chief," he teased. "You won't know what the purpose of finding Master Chief is [right away]. Or what will happen if we do find him, what condition he will be in, and where he's at mentally. But I'm sure that'll be a plot twist in Halo 5."

Looks like fans have something major to look forward to as Microsoft claims the latest installment is a big leap for the franchise.

"Featuring new and classic weapons, a host of brand-new Spartan abilities that completely transform the way you engage enemies, and more, Halo 5: Guardians marks the greatest evolution in franchise history," the company stated.

"Halo 5: Guardians" release date is on October 27, 2015.
