'Halo 5' News, Update: Multiplayer Game System Further Explained Ahead Of Launching

In just about a handful of days, 343 Industries' upcoming first-person shooter video game and the fifth installment of the popular "Halo" franchise, "Halo 5: Guardians," will be hitting the shelves. This week, in the meantime, brought a slew of announcements from Microsoft explaining further the details of the game, particularly its multiplayer gameplay mechanics.

Citing the details from Gamespot.com, it appears that "Halo 5" is getting more serious in its effort to uphold the "quality of the Arena experience" as well as the "sanctity of competition." The new game will not hesitate to kick out any of the players who are "quitting matches," betraying or killing their own teammates, idling (AFK), committing intentional suicides, as well as excessive disconnects.

The studio warns that those who are caught "repeatedly engaging" in the abovementioned actions will "receive temporary bans" that may prevent them from gaining access to the Arena multiplayer.

"The duration of each ban is dependent on the offense and becomes more severe with each successive infraction, so continually killing your teammates to steal the Sniper Rifle will quickly lead to long timeouts from matchmade play," 343 explained (via GS).

Further details dished out by 343 also indicate that players will never be able to join an Arena match that has already commenced or is under progress. However, they may be able to join in the Warzone matches which could last up to 30 minutes or longer.

The game will also have a Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR) which requires first-time Halo 5 players to finish a round of "placement matches." After doing so, they may now be placed in one of the CSR rankings.

The new game installment is also putting emphasis on the match quality. This is why, the game's matchmaking algorithm will meticulously set up a player with anotehr player close to or exactly in his/her CSR range. If all else fails, the pool will further be adjusted to include players who are "around your same skill."

For those who are able to achieve the highest possible CSR in one month, the game will give rewards consisting of "special cosmetics" and other exciting items.

Tune in for more updates ahead of the release date of "Halo 5: Guardian," which is slated to take place this October 27.
