'Halo 5' Xbox One X Enhancements Revealed
One of the key titles announced by Microsoft to receive special enhancements for the newly-released Xbox One X is "Halo 5: Guardians." With the super console now out, the game's developer revealed the details on the title's enhancements.
In an interview with Xbox Wire, Chris Lee, Studio Head of FPS Games for 343 Industries said that they used the Xbox One X's "ton of additional power" to "lift the Halo 5: Guardians resolution to 4K Ultra HD while maintaining the smooth 60fps gameplay experience." Moreover, Lee also shared that his team was able to apply changes on the detail settings, which helped them "render more detail further away from the player."
Along with the Xbox One X update that is free of charge, other key features include the Oddball multiplayer mode, new weapons tuning updates and in-game skins, plus "support for the new 'Halo 5: Guardians Local Server' app on Windows 10 that lets gamers use their Windows 10 PC into a local server for Halo 5 custom games," Lee explained.
When it comes to the enhancements' impact on the overall gaming experience, Lee said that gamers will notice "a ton of details" on the characters, as well as the vehicles and weapons that they use. Apart from the "visual treat," players can also enjoy smooth gameplay for both the campaign and multiplayer modes.
When asked on which part of the enhancements he was most excited about, Lee noted the "high visual fidelity," "faster load times," and the "smooth 60fps gameplay." With the Xbox One X now available, Lee said that they are looking forward to creating more projects that will showcase and maximize the power of the console.
"HDR is a great technology for a sci-fi game with vibrant color and FXs as a critical part of our gameplay sandbox. We are excited to get our hands on it so we create intense new visuals for our universe," Lee added.
Meanwhile, Gamespot noted that "Halo 5" is just one of more than 130 different titles that received enhancements for the Xbox One X. Some of the other notable games include "FIFA 18," "Forza Motorsport 7," "Super Lucky's Tale," "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, " and "Assassin's Creed: Origins."
