'Halo: The Fall of Reach' Movie Now Available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Video on Demand
Microsoft has announced that "Halo: The Fall of Reach" animation is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, and video on demand.
On Monday, Dec. 1, a post on the Xbox Wire broke the news. "Halo: The Fall of Reach" is now available on Blu-ray for $24.99 (MSRP) and on DVD for $20.99. Viewers can also stream the movie on the Halo Channel for $9.99. The animated feature can also be rented on various video on-demand providers like Microsoft Movies & TV, iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play, and others.
"Halo: The Fall of Reach" is an origin story based on a novel of the same name by Eric Nylund. It tells the beginnings of John-117, a.k.a. Master Chief, and the Blue Team. As can be seen in the behind-the-scenes video below, it shows the little Master Chief and other children as they undergo training under Chief Franklin Mendez. The movie also details the events preceding "Halo: Combat Evolved," including the birth of Spartan II and allows fans to get to know more about the program's mastermind, Catherine Halsey, who appeared in "Halo: Reach."
"This animated feature explores the dramatic origins and intrigue behind the SPARTAN program that propelled characters like the Master Chief and Dr. Catherine Halsey into the pantheon of Halo lore," the post reads. "The story reveals the events that brought Master Chief and Blue Team together, including their Spartan training and their daring mission to strike back at the Covenant during the first days of the deadly alien invasion."
The animation is a short watch, only 65 minutes long. Vancouver-based SEQUENCE produced and directed "Halo: The Fall of Reach." The animation studio had already worked with the "Halo" franchise before. SEQUENCE created "Terminals" in "Halo 4" and "Halo 2: Anniversary."
"Halo: The Fall of Reach" arrives just a couple of months after the release of "Halo 5: Guardians."
