Han Solo Movie Release Date, Plot News: 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Will Not Share Any Connections With Final Season of 'Star Wars Rebels'

"Star Wars Rebels" executive producer Dave Filoni has revealed that the final season of the animated series will not be sharing any connections with next year's "Star Wars" anthology film titled "Solo: A Star Wars Story."

The Disney XD series follows the story of a young Force user named Ezra Bridger and the Rebels as they strive to defeat the tyrannical Empire. And while the storyline is beginning to connect with that of the "Star Wars" films titled "A New Hope" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which is a prequel to the former, next year's Lucasfilm and Disney offering is said to not have any links to the fourth and final season of "Star Wars Rebels," which is currently airing.

"I don't know if there's anything Ezra Bridger could really add to the saga of a Han Solo type character," Filoni said in an interview with i09. "We already had Lando in our show, but we have to be careful about it being a variety show. We've had a lot of characters come in and out and I always get worried about small galaxy syndrome," he added.

On the other hand, the executive producer also said that if there was going to be any character in the series who would know who the space smuggler Han Solo is, it is likely to be Hera. This is taken from the fact that they are similarly great pilots.

"There is some rationale that, if she should survive 'Star Wars Rebels,' being an ace pilot, it seems more likely that Hera would be the one that knows someone like Han Solo," Filoni told the publication. "I've had rather large arguments about which ship is better, the Ghost or the Falcon, but that doesn't really seem relevant for anything [the Rebels] are doing," he went on to say.

According to Screen Rant, it makes sense for "Star Wars Rebels" not to include anything from "Solo: A Star Wars Story," especially because there was never really any hints that Han Solo (originally played by Harrison Ford and will soon be played by Alden Ehrenreich) had any involvement with the Rebels prior to his introduction in the original trilogy.

Meanwhile, following the revelation of the film's title about a week ago, the fans, who have been filled with excitement as they anticipate the release of the Han Solo film, turned out to be disappointed with the title reveal, with some going on social media to express their dismay over the seemingly simplistic title for the film.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is set to open in cinemas on May 25, 2018.
