'Harley and the Davidsons' Season 2 News: New Season for Miniseries Unlikely

A second season for "Harley and the Davidsons" is not very likely, but a combination of very positive ratings, widespread viewership and critical acclaim could convince Discovery Channel to commission another season of the miniseries.

Once in a while, Discovery Channel would commission a miniseries that caters to a particular segment of their viewers, and usually those series are not designed to carry on for multiple seasons. "Harley and the Davidsons" is one of those miniseries, according to Release Date TV. While the biker show is expected to be good for just one short run, positive reception and viewer demand could make the Discovery Channel consider the option of a second season.

It would have to be a set of impressive numbers to convince Discovery Channel chief executive officer David Zaslav, according to a report by Fierce Cable. "Harley and the Davidsons," the miniseries that followed the history of the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer, was an expensive venture according to Zaslav. While acknowledging the good performance of the show both in the United States and the worldwide market, its numbers would not mean that the media channel would shift into a production of more scripted content for "Harley and the Davidsons."

The Discovery channel's American biker culture series chronicles the stories of the founders of the Harley-Davidson bike manufacturing company. The show follows the company's founders — Walter Davidson, Arthur Davison and their friend Bill Harley — as they designed and built the iconic designs that will become the foundation of their bike brand.

The miniseries made an authentic-looking and well-directed scripted documentary set in the early 20th century, and the real Harley-Davidson company has contributed to that achievement. According to the International Business Times, the bike company has opened its archives to the show's producers, from which the motorcycles featured in the show were built.
