Harmonix: 'Never Give up Hope' for Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd in 'Rock Band'
Developer Harmonix told "Rock Band" fans to "never give up hope" for Legendary band groups Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. The question about these bands' inclusion in the game inevitably came up during the PAX East 2016.
In a Q&A, GameSpot reports that someone asked Harmonix if Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd will come to "Rock Band" someday. The developer isn't sure if this will become a reality soon but urges fans to "never give up hope," citing "The Beatles: Rock Band" as an example. "The Beatles: Rock Band" came out in 2009 after a long time of chasing, the developer revealed.
"I don't feel comfortable saying no, but I can't say yes," Harmonix social lead Josh Harrison said in response to the Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd question.
Although Harrison did not mention any reason for the bands still not getting featured in the game, GameSpot says it's likely due to licensing. In short, Harrison is telling fans to keep hoping but don't hold their breath for a Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd "Rock Band" game soon.
It isn't clear if Harmonix and the bands' representative have actually talked about these things, but it's clear the developer would really want the idea to become a reality. Harmonix revealed during 2013's PAX East convention that it already had prototypes or proof-of-concept for Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Pearl Jam "Rock Band" games.
Before the Q&A, Harmonix detailed its content plan for "Rock Band 4" from May to the rest of the year during a panel. Next month, the developer will introduce two "Battleborn" characters along with a double kick feature. In June, a new practice mode will be available. "Rock Band 4" is also scheduled to receive its first expansion in the fall and its synchronous online multiplayer will be making a comeback during the holidays. Harmonix is expected to provide more details about the game's upcoming content during the E3.
