'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' News: Harry, Ron, and Hermione Have Been Cast

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger will be back, and they will return in the new "Harry Potter" play, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." The play will premiere next year in London, and the names of the actors who will play those memorable roles have been revealed.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the roles were bagged by Jamie Parker, Paul Thornley, and Noma Dumezweni, and the website said that they are known British stage actors. The report noted Parker's work in "The History Boys" and "Guys and Dolls," while Thornley is known for his roles on stage in the productions "Noises Off, It's a Wonderful Life," "London Road," and "The Three Musketeers." The latter has also starred in several films like the soon-to-be released "Grimsby" and "Les Miserables."

Meanwhile, fans have reacted strongly to the casting of Noma Dumezweni, who is known for her role in "A Raisin in the Sun," since she'll be playing a black Hermione. However, according to The Wrap, the book's author, J. K. Rowling, responded to those who were not happy with Dumezweni playing Hermione, and she flat out said that Hermione's skin color was never specified in her books. "Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever," Rowling's tweet said. "Rowling loves black Hermione," she added.

Matthew Lewis also came to Dumezweni's defense, and said on Twitter, "And Neville Longbottom was blonde. I really don't care. Good luck to her."

In a statement released in Pottermore, Rowling also said that she's delighted with the casting of the three actors. "I'm so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can't wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer," she said.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" will premiere on June 7 next year and will be presented into two parts.
