Harry Styles Tattoo A Butterfly? One Direction Member Has Free Spirit (PHOTO)

Harry Styles has been accused of being addicted to ink- tattoo ink of course. His latest tattoo was recently unveiled to be a dark butterfly just below his chest.

The butterfly tattoo is believed to be Styles' fourth ink marking. Covering most of his rib cage, the new tattoo is completely black and depicts a butterfly with spread wings. The picture of the tattoo first surfaced on the Internet in January on tattoo artist Liam Sparkes' Flickr. On Sunday, a representative for Styles confirmed to E! News that the photo was of Styles.

The One Direction member has three other tattoos: one of a ship and two more of sparrows. U.K.-based tattoo artist Kevin Paul has noted that Style's tattoos may have more meaning behind them than it appears.

"Everyone's different, like Zayn [Malik's] got microphones and music stuff and, like, Harry has more personal things, like he has little things for his mom and all that kind of stuff," Paul previously told MTV News. "They're all pretty different on what they have, like their ideas. He hasn't got proper tattoos. They're just scattered around. I think as he gets older he will want proper pieces and he'll have all these little pieces."

Fans of the One Direction star have suggested that Style's attempt to communicate through body art is "beautiful."

"I think it's beautiful the way Harry tries to talk through tattoos," the fan wrote on an MTV blog. "Of course, we have no idea what the tattoos mean but what we do know is that Harry absolutely loves them and is really proud that it's inked on his body."

Other reports have stated that Styles has many more than four tattoos. A full count appears to be around 16 or 17 including one that says "Screw" which is printed on all of the One Direction member's ankles. Publications guessing at what Style's butterfly tattoo must mean have suggested that of a "free spirit."
