Harvey Weinstein Latest News: Hollywood A-listers React to Firing of Movie Producer

Harvey Weinstein has just been removed from the company he co-founded, and it's now open season on the movie producer. Weinstein, who's being accused of engaging in sexual harassment over the span of his decades-long career, is now facing criticism from Hollywood A-listers — some of whom he used to have working relationships with.

Weinstein's career as a movie producer went back decades, with the man himself getting named credits in 204 films and TV shows dating back to 1981, with his first credit sole producer role in "The Burning." As an executive producer, he had considerable control over 194 titles, according to the list compiled by TV Guide.

His career, and resulting clout in the movie industry, is such that it would not be until he was removed from his company that Hollywood icons like Julianne Moore and Kevin Smith would come forward to slam the producer for his alleged abuses, as the Los Angeles Times noted.

It's not just stars who are coming out to take a shot at the disgraced Weinstein. Director Kevin Smith also posted on Twitter on Monday, Oct. 9, how he regretted working with the man.

"He financed the first 14 years of my career," Smith said, referring to the time they spent on "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy," and "Dogma" in his time with Miramax. " "I know while I was profiting, others were in terrible pain. It makes me feel ashamed," he added.

Julianne Moore's award-studded career got a huge boost from the movies she made with Weinstein's Miramax studio. The actress took to social media just this Monday to back the women coming forward with their stories of abuse under Weinstein.

"Coming forward about sexual abuse and coercion is scary and women have nothing to be gained personally by doing so, But through their bravery we move forward as a culture, and I thank them. Stand with @AshleyJudd @rosemcgowan and others," Moore tweeted, adding a call-out to fellow A-lister Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan.

The Weinstein Company has fired its co-founder on Sunday, Oct. 8, according to The New York Times. The producer and his brother have made no public statements as of this time.
