'Hawaii Five-0' Season 5 Spoilers: Michelle Borth Not Returning
"Hawaii Five-O" star Michelle Borth left the show at the end of season four and will not return for season five. Borth played Catherine Rollins on the series, starting in the first season and continuing on. Her character was written out of the season finale, going to Afghanistan to rescue a member of the family that saved her life.
Fans were saddened to learn that Borth was leaving and have requested that she make a reappearance in season five. However, it is incredibly unlikely that that will happen, no matter how desperately fans want it. Borth's character, Catherine Rollins, was the love interest of leading man Steven J. McGarrett, and leaving him left fans wanting more of their relationship.
Borth was not made a cast regular until season three – she previously told E! News that she didn't want her character to "be disruptive. I want it to be a gradual easing in for sure."
"Hawaii Five-0" was one of the shows on the fence earlier this year, and CBS announced that it would return for a fifth season. CBS has a solid history of dramas, with "The Good Wife," "Person of Interest" and "NCIS." "Hawaii Five-O" is a remake of the classic series that aired from 1968 to 1980. The series brought renewed interest from those who watched the original, and it seemed that it may not click with a new audience. However, it found its following, and was picked up for a fifth season.
"Bring Back Cath because she IS the female version McG," tweeted HeyD50. "Nope, never too much. And Cath's a great mate for him."
"Please please please with malasadas on top tell me we'll see Cath in season 5!! #H50 #MissingHerAlready!" tweeted Candy Abrams.
It's unknown what prompted Borth to make the decision to leave the series, but it's likely that she will continue on in other projects, given her immense popularity with fans.
