'Hawaii Five-0' season 6 plot news: Romance is in the air

With the fifth season of "Hawaii Five-0" brought to an end, it was reported that the upcoming season will feature a new character.

Reports by TVLine stated that star of "Falling Skies" Sarah Carter will be playing a recurring role for season 6. Carter will be portraying the role of Lynn, a nature lover who has a romantic interest with Steve, played by Alex O'Loughlin.

Accordign to Deadline, "Carter will play Lynn, a nature enthusiast and avid explorer McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) takes to a remote island on an adventurous first date, where they stumble upon a criminal hideout that puts both of their lives in danger."

With Lynn joining the picture, there are speculations that Steve will no longer be involved with Catherine, portrayed by Michelle Borth. The character recently returned to the island after leaving during the season 4 finale.

According the the Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Peter Lenkov stated that it is still unsure whether she is here to stay. However, he did mention that Catherine and Steve have a lot to discuss. He said, " I'm hoping that we resolve it at the beginning of next year and decide the fate of Catherine at that time."

He also shared that it is not just Steve who will be getting a love life. It was reported that Julie Benz from "Defiance" will be joining the cast. She will be taking on the role of Jennifer, perceived to be Chin's romantic interest. Jennifer is a detective from San Fransico.

Lenkiv shared, "She's on loan from the San Francisco Department and she's going to end up, we think at least, having a relationship with Chin Ho."

Fans of the series will not have to wait that long to see what is in store for the romance of the character. Hawaii Five-0 season 6 will premiere on Sept. 25.
