'Hawaii Five-0' Season 6 Premiere Plot Spoilers: Episode 1 Synopsis Hints Treasure Hunting

Now on its sixth season, the procedural crime drama TV series "Hawaii Five-0" is returning to CBS on Sept. 25. The series is a remake of a TV series of the same name, which was one of the longest-running series on TV, running from 1968 to 1980. Like the original series, the current series follows an elite police squad established to fight crime in the state of Hawaii.

The current series stars Alex O'Loughlin as Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett of the US Naval Reserve as head of the team, Scott Caan as Honolulu P.D. Detective Danny Williams, Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho Kelly, also a Honolulu P.D. cop and Grace Park as Kono Kalakaua, a rookie H.P.D. copy and Chin's cousin.

According to a report in CarterMatt, CBS recently released a synopsis of the season's first episode. In the midst of investigating a murder, the team looks into "a centuries-old pirate story" which naturally involves buried treasure. The killer is supposedly using a map which was found at the back of a stolen painting.

One of the team members, Kono, on the other hand, was trying to enjoy her honeymoon with husband Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) when they end up being kidnapped by a drug lord named Gabriel. Adam is the new head of Yakuza after the murder of his father.

Team Leader McGarrett will also be dealing with an emotional upheaval in the first episode, with the return of Lt. Catherine Rollins who is McGarrett's love interest in the series. Their complicated relationship which has been shown since the start of the series is said to worry Danny Williams, because of how it will affect McGarrett.

Aside from plot details, another report in Entertainment Weekly mentioned that a special guest star will make an appearance in Season 6. The report mentioned that NFL legend Jerry Rice, who is a hall of famer and a former wide receiver of the 49ers, will be making a cameo appearance during the fourth episode of the upcoming season.

"Jerry Rice is an NFL legend, as well as just an outstanding gentleman, and we are so glad to have him join the Five-0 ohana for this episode. And considering McGarrett and Chin's [Daniel Dae Kim] former glory days of high school football and the team's annual football games, perhaps Jerry can give them a few pointers," said executive producer Peter Lenkov.
