'Hawaii Five-O' Season 6 News, Update: Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov Spilled Premiere Details Ahead of Airing
The highly-anticipated sixth season of CBS' hit police-procedural drama TV series "Hawaii Five-O" is finally here and is ready to kick off. But before the primer titled "Mai Ho'Oni I Ka Wai Lana Malie" (Do Not Disturb the Water that is Tranquil) opens, executive producer Peter M. Lenkov sat down with TV Line to tease about a treasure hunt, a couples' retreat, and a lot more surprises.
Lenkov told the media outlet that the Season 6 opener will pick up near the last season's finale in which Chin Ho was confronted by Gabriel in the parking lot. According to the EP, Chin will be telling that story while Kono and Adam are celebrating, now as a husband and wife, at the wedding reception.
Speaking of the newlyweds, fans should expect some stormy days for the couple "in the first half of the season."
The premiere, meanwhile, will tackle on a legend about some pirates attacking the islands in the 1880s. Viewers will get to see some flashback scene of the pirate attack. Lenkov touted it as a "National Treasure"-meets-"Pirates of the Caribbean" episode.
Talking about the season's big bad, Lenkov compared Gabriel to Wo Fat who, unlike the latter, was rather "more of a sociopath."
"He's a bad guy because he's a bad guy. I don't think you're going to find out, at least for a while, what his real agenda is, but it's definitely not personal," he said (via TV Line).
The arc where Danny got wind of the truth that Charlie is his son will also be tackled in the current season, the EP confirmed. In fact, fans will get to see the two bonding together by doing some trick-or-treating at the hospital.
"The same way we saw him raise Grace in the early years of the show, you're going to see him now with a new kid," the show boss said (via TVLine).
Of course, the bromance issue between Danny and Steve will also be highlighted in one of the episodes in Season 6. In that segment, they will find themselves going to a couples retreat "to sort of burn off some of their therapy time."
"Hawaii Five-O" Season 6 premieres Friday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
