HBO Go PS3 Release Coming Soon, App to Also Roll out on PS4

The HBO Go app will finally be available for the PS3 sometime in the near future.

HBO announced that it would be releasing its official app for both the PS3 and the PS4 later on this year. The version for the newer console will follow the older one.

HBO Go requires users to have an HBO subscription via cable or satellite in order to use the app. It actually makes subscribing to the station's programming much more worthwhile since its entire library of original series can be accessed by using it. Users will also be able to watch select movies and documentaries with it.

HBO Go is currently available on smartphones, tablets and through Smart TVs. The PS3 release has been a long time coming and will satisfy those who have been stuck using the service on smaller devices.

HBO Go features a selection of shows that includes Oz, The Sopranos, Entourage, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Deadwood, Game of Thrones, True Blood and much more. Some of these programs are in full HD while others are SD and do not fill up a widescreen TV. Every season of each of these shows can be viewed on Go.

The movies found on the app normally correlate with what the network is playing at the time. It is similar to HBO On Demand found on many cable and satellite systems, but features much more content.

The app was also recently made compatible will Google's Chromecast streaming device. Chromecast allows users to stream various apps to their TVs by plugging the mini adapter into an HDMI slot. The device actually connects to the users Wi-Fi and transfers the content from a smartphone or tablet via the cloud onto the television. Other apps such as Netflix and Google Play can be used on it.
