'Hearthstone' Halloween Event Adds New Hero, Costumes, Dual Class Arena Mode and More
"Hearthstone" has officially started their Halloween celebrations, with this year's Hallow's End party being kicked off by the Headless Horseman. New content, features, plus a new hero have been added in the Oct. 17 update that went live for PC and Mac.
Hallow's End will be bringing treats, and more than a few tricks, starting Tuesday, Oct. 24, as the "Hearthstone" team announced in a recent blog update. Players can earn rewards by logging in every week starting the next, as the event continues until Nov. 6.
This time of the year, a new hero emerges from the marshes to try her hand at the tavern card games. Warlock Nemsy Necrofizzle is now available at the Fireside Gathering Tavern, and more details are available at the feature's new web page.
The red-headed warlock has been up for grabs since Tuesday, Oct. 17. Unlike the other Hallow's End promos, she will be sticking around for a while even after the Halloween festivities wrap up on Nov. 6. To get her, players simply need to play in the Fireside Brawl at one of several Fireside Gathering Tavern, real-life events that are hosted at certain locations.
This month's Fireside Brawl is a Tag Team match, which is a team-based format where two groups of 3 players each duke it out over the cards table, as GameSpot explains.
This Halloween, players can also check out the new dual-class Arena mode. In this gameplay mode, players can put together a deck made of cards from two different Heroes, with the interesting combinations that can come out of these. Not only that, players will have to pick a Hero to play, then select a Hero Power from another class.
To complete the look, that Hero will then show up in a Hallow's End themed costume, much like the Witch Jaina skin that Blizzard teased in their latest video.
