Heidi Klum has been transformed into a "living piece of art" for a new Astor Cosmetics ad.

Astor Cosmetics will run a new ad featuring Heidi Klum painted from head to toe in a rainbow of colors against a white background. The 38-year-old model, who once worked for Victoria's Secret, considers the ad work a piece of art.

Klum reported that it took makeup artist Joanne Gair an impressive 12 hours to achieve the colorful design that was painted straight on to the surface of Klum's skin. The body paint session was not Heidi's first with Gair, Klum said on her blog that it's actually around the 13th time that she had been painted by the make-up artist, which has taught her patience.

"This was probably close to the 13th time I've been body painted by her, so I'm used to getting it done--the process takes awhile, so you have to be good at being patient!" Klum wrote.

Klum however, stated that she didn't "mind sitting still for such a long time" because the end piece resulted in "a living piece of art that I'm so honored to be a part of."

Klum admitted that she liked the final product so much, that she was sad to watch it go.

"However, I get so sad when the shoot is over because the beautiful paint all gets washed down the drain!" Klum remarked.

The ad celebrates Astor's 60th Anniversary and according to Klum, it is also "the celebration of color." The model posted the ad picture of herself Tuesday on Twitter.

"I had another fun photo shoot for Astor celebrating color!" Klum wrote.

Klum also posted another photo of herself just days before, depicting a younger version of herself.

"Wow! Check out this picture from 1992. One of my very first photo shoots. This is my original hair color!" Klum wrote.
