'Hell Girl' News, Release Date: Japanese Retailers Accidentally Announce Release of New 'Hell Girl' Anime

After it had its last go at anime in 2008, it looks like "Hell Girl" is coming back with its new installment. Rumors that the fourth season of the mysterious thriller will arrive in July began to surface in Japan recently, causing "Hell Girl" fans to hope that the anime hasn't really abandoned them just yet.

In Japan, retailers Tsutaya and Honya inadvertently revealed that a new season of "Hell Girl" is coming this year. The two Japanese retailers were advertising a new manga omnibus that is set for release on March 13, including a description of its content.

The omnibus contained the franchise's volumes, which included fan-favorite chapters of the manga that were previously used in the titles of the "Hell Girl" anime. As for the description, it stated that the booklets featured production designs for a new anime series of "Hell Girl" that will start airing in July.

"Hell Girl" debuted in 2005 under Studio DEEN and Aniplex and was given two more sequels in 2006 and 2008. A live-action drama adaptation of the manga series was also released in 2006. Since its debut, 78 episodes and four manga adaptations have been released.

"Hell Girl" is a horror-mystery episodic series that features different stories about bullied individuals who visit the Hell Correspondence website. When they log onto this website, they submit requests that their tormentors get karmic punishment and be taken to hell.

In the manga, the titular Hell Girl is a girl named Ai Enma, who fulfills the wish of the bullied. Once a request has been made, she and her comrades appear to torture the tormentor and offer him a final chance at redemption before she ultimately drags him to hell. As soon as Ai Enma grants the requester's request, the requester pays her back by letting the Hell Girl drag his soul to hell as well.

Since the announcement is not yet official, details about the upcoming installment remain scarce.
