'High School Musical 4' Teaser, Cast News: Vanessa Hudgens Will Do HSM4 on One Condition
Vanessa Hudgens is on board "High School Musical 4" (HSM4). She, however, revealed that she would agree to a reunion if the upcoming movie would be similar to a fan-made released a few months ago.
Hudgens is referring to a "High School Musical 4" trailer that showed the six stars from the original cast as adults. The creator weaved together several clips from the actors' work following their stints on HSM.
"I kind of died [watching it]. I loved it," Hudgens, who played Gabriella Montez, said about the fan-made teaser. She further related that she discussed the unofficial trailer with HSM co-star and best friend in real life, Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay Evans), and they agreed they would do another "High School Musical" if it was about the fan-made teaser.
It's been over a year since Disney announced that there will be a "High School Musical 4" and the studio also launched an open casting call to find the new stars. Since then, however, Disney has not yet revealed any updates about the status of HSM4.
It's also unclear if any of the original stars will grace the planned special. Hudgens has, time and again, said that she's too old to be in the cast.
"I could be a teacher, but I refuse to be a teacher!" Hudgens told E! News in March. "I'm still a teenager at heart. So probably not with me, but I'm excited to see what they whip together."
Hudgens remains grateful, however, that kids still watch HSM 10 years after Disney first aired the special on television. The actress acknowledges that the musical that turned her into a big star is part of someone's childhood, thus "High School Musical" will always be special to her for this very reason.
The original "High School Musical" also starred Zac Efron (Troy Bolton), Lucas Grabeel (Ryan Evans), Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth), and Monique Coleman (Taylor McKessie). The movie musical specials ran three installments from 2006 to 2008.
