Hines Ward to Restructure Deal to Retire With Steelers
Steelers' wide receiver Hines Ward has said that he wants to retire with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and has now offered to restructure his contracts to make sure that happens.
The star left a message on his Facebook page Saturday explaining that he had already told the Steelers that he is willing to amend his contract to ensure that his dream comes true. Ward is the NFL's all time leading receiver, but recently a report was released by NFL.com stating that the Steelers might cut him.
Ward responded on his Facebook today, "I don't normally like to respond to rumors, but as I've said all along, I want to finish my career with the Pittsburgh Steelers."
Whether that will happen though is another thing; last season he finished with just 46 receptions for 381 yards and 2 touchdowns, which is the lowest in each category for the star in his 14 year career.
Meanwhile, the Steelers have hired former Kansas City head coach Todd Haley to replace offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. Indicatively Haley didn't mention Ward's name at all during an introductory press conference earlier this week on Thursday.
However, maybe working in Ward's favor is the fact that the Steelers have just four receivers under contract for 2012, including Ward.
