Holly Bobo Trial News: Jason Autry Testifies Against Zachary Adams
Jason Autry, one of the six men arrested for their involvement in Holly Bobo's murder case, testified against Zachary Adams in exchange for federal immunity.
Last Thursday, Autry stood in the courtroom and told the story how Adams asked for his help in disposing of the dead body of Bobo in 2011, Fox News reports.
Autry said in court that he knew Adams for several years, and the reason they met on the day of Bobo's murder was that he asked if he could give him a morphine pill, which he was then addicted to, CBS News confirmed.
In exchange for the pill, Adams told Autry that he needed his help. After Autry, who was nicknamed Train, swallowed the pill, Adams brought him to his truck and showed Bobo's body.
"He said 'I need you to help me bury this body. He said, 'Train, that's Holly Bobo,'" revealed Autry, who admitted to agreeing to help Adams dispose of the victim's body.
Autry shared that Adam's plan was to "gut her" and drop her "in the deep end" of the Tennessee River so that Bobo's body would not float and resurface on the water. But before they could execute the plan, Bobo — who the two presumed to be dead — fidgeted her foot and made noises.
Out of fear that someone might see them, Autry served as a lookout and cleared the area of other people. When Autry told Adams that the "coast was clear," he took his pistol from the truck and shot Bobo dead.
"It sounded like, boom, boom, boom, underneath that bridge. It was just one shot but it echoed. Birds went everywhere, all up under that bridge. Then just dead silence for just a second," Autry explained, describing what happened after the gunshot.
Before they could dump Bobo's body into the river, Autry heard a boat. To avoid getting caught, the two put Bobo's body back onto the truck and left the river.
Autry then said that he told Adams he had to leave because he was going to meet his girlfriend for lunch. However, Autry revealed that the reason he left was that he didn't want to get involved anymore with Adams' crime.
"I realized that this old boy had made some bad mistakes, some bad judgments. I was looking for a way to put some distance between me and that situation," said Autry.
If Adams is found guilty to the charges of kidnapping, raping, and killing Bobo, he will be penalized with the death penalty.
